The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, His Excellency Mr. Zayed bin Rashed Al Zayani, confirmed that the development of the Manama Souq project is well underway and will be completed in accordance with the highest international standards and practices meeting the needs and requirements of the Souq visitors and merchants.
This came during an inspection tour that took place in the presence of the Capital Governor, H.E. Shaikh Hesham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, alongside the Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), H.E Shaikh Khaled bin Humood Al Khalifa.
“In-line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister and with the support of the private and public sector to develop the old Manama Souq; we will be following up on the progress of the project due to its importance. Also, we look forward to energize the role of Manama souq that will positively reflect the revitalization of the trade movement and hence boost its role in strengthening the national economy,” commented the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, H.E Mr. Zayed bin Rashed Al Zayani.
During a meeting that was held with a number of souq merchants, the Minister confirmed that the Manama Souq development project will continue its progress as the minister is reliant on the decision of the committee formed and headed by the CEO of BTEA and other members including representatives from the government sector and Manama Souq merchants.
